Sinach named among Africa’s Most Influential Women

Popular Gospel Minister Sinach has been named among the 100 influential women in Africa by Avance Media 2020.

Osinachi Joseph popularly known as Sinach, a gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader has achieved yet another feat as she has been recently named among the 100 most influential women in Africa which also includes the likes of popular music acts like Angélique Kidjo, Oumou Sangaré, and Yemi Alade.

Nigerian multi-award-winning and highly respected hitmaker Sinach was born in the year 1973 on March 30 in Ebonyi State, Afikpo South. She is the second daughter of seven children in her family. Sinach started singing at a very tender age far back as 1989. She always sings for her family and friends. She loves singing every time, and people always want to hear her sing.

She’s also a working staff and choir member in Christ Embassy Church today, and she has blessed a lot of lives with her music ministration.

Personal Life
Sinach graduated from the physics department at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria where she bags series of scholarships and awards. In 2014, Sinach married Mr. Joseph Egbu in her church, Christ Embassy. In November 2019, Sinach welcomed her first child after five years of marriage.

Musical Career

Sinach stated she had dreams, where she saw herself singing to a large audience, but she didn’t take it seriously then and never actively pursued anything musically as a career though she joined a choir group in her church. The music minister had written many songs before she released her first album, Chapter One in 2008 and her song This is You Season off the album won the Song of the Year award in 2008.

As a prolific songwriter, Sinach has written over 200 songs and won several awards. One of her most popular songs is “I Know Who I Am”. In 2016, Sinach was the first recipient of the LIMA Songwriter of the Decade Award. Most of her songs were being sung in many countries, and even translated to many languages all around the world. In the same year 2019, she received the African Achiever’s Award for Global Excellence. Also, that same year, she won the Western African Artist Of The Year by Groove Awards in Kenya for the second time in a row and was listed among the top 100 most Influential Christians in Nigeria.

Performance
Sinach has performed in many concerts in over 50 countries including the United States, Canada, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Barbados, Jamaica, Barbados, United Kingdom, Zambia, Trinidad, and Tobago, and many more.

In September 2019 he toured India, headlining concerts with several thousand in attendance.

In September 2019, Sinach became the first gospel artist from Africa to tour India with thousands of audiences in attendance.

Achievements

In March 2019, the visuals for “Way Maker” became the third Nigerian video to reach 100 million views on YouTube. Way Maker has been covered by multiple Christian artists such as Mandisa, Michael W. Smith, Darlene Zschech, Leeland, and Bethel Music.

In May 2020, She became the first artist to top the Billboard Christian Songwriters chart.

And today 21 of August, The Ghana-based Advance Media list which is an annual compilation got through a public nomination. The list which is a Selection from 34 countries across the African continent features women who have made notable impacts in various fields of endeavor and are role models for the coming generation.

The singer who is making the list for the first time shows her gratitude and says “A lot has happened this year, but in all, we are still standing. I thank everyone who contributed to this, especially our fans and followers. You made this happen. Thank you for inspiring us.”
